Who owns the future?
Who gets to shape it?
Increasingly, the societies we live in are asking these questions. Enabling more people to participate in shaping their own futures, and in new ways, is being put forward as an answer.
Based in Cardiff, the Future Matters Collective brings together the disciplines of Architecture, Fine Arts, Child Development, Dance, Human Geography, Law, Music, Philosophy, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Sociology to explore new ways of investigating society’s relationship to the future and enabling creative future-making. We integrate research methods from these diverse perspectives with approaches from the visual and performance arts to explore futures in the making across a wide range of topic areas, including education, the environment and sustainable urban development.
As our exchanges often reveal unanticipated shared ground, they spark new ideas and create opportunities for embodied and experiential collective learning, acting as a springboard for further critical interventions.
