As part of progressing and developing health care professional and student teaching about prolonged disorders of consciousness, initial face-face research-led teaching for health care professionals and students was turned into an online resource, embedded within which is much temporal based work as discussed in the above sections.

The development of the online resource was a collaboration between myself, Dr Geraldine Latchem-Hastings, Professor Jenny Kitzinger, Professor Celia Kitzinger and Neil Pollock.

The resource has been developed into both a student version, supporting the interprofessional education of 500 pre-registration health care students each year at Cardiff University and a publicly available version for qualified heath care professionals working with patients in a prolonged disorder of consciousness.

Over the past 2 years the online resource has underpinned a curated blended learning course inviting the interest of over 200 health care professionals across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.  

Temporal aspects of the course require learners to engage with persons past and present as a core part of best interest decision making and learners are encouraged to commit to making positive change in their own practice and workplace to improve care for this patient group and their families.
